Tucked away in the sleepy town of Walla Walla, Washington, winemaking pioneers have diligently and faithfully worked to create beautiful wines for over 30 years. Well, that hard work has paid off, and now the small AVA is producing some of our country’s best wines. Having the pleasure of spending time there, I have become a quick convert, and I’m starting to understand all the buzz is about. Deep glacial soils, hot, dry summers mixed with cool mountain evenings make for great conditions for the varieties grown there. The vibe in the tasting rooms is casual, and the visitors to the region seem to be looking for unique and balanced wine rather than Instagram followers.
